Business Development Manager Location: Mobile (office location Cirencester) Salary: Up to ?33,000+car/car allowance Develop long-term strategic and short term tactical business development plans, to increase Capita's profile and credibility and to drive sales of the full SIMS portfolio of product and service propositions for new business. Directly manage the generation of profitable sales income from new business (non-clients). The clients may be individual independent and free schools, or groups of schools. Identify sales opportunities with these prospective client groups and manage the sales process throughout to closure. The role of BDM falls into specific areas * Meetings/demonstrations with new customers * Identifying and closing sales opportunities to achieve annual targets * Working with prospective customers in an advisory role to maximise the sales opportunity for SIMS * Sharing of customer knowledge with Capita business areas MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES * To ensure full prospect contact within region to maintain and develop sales opportunities to grow new business pipeline and sales. * To manage prospect information communications and act as the conduit between Capita and the customer. * Closely qualify all business opportunities and revisit the qualification factors throughout the sales process * Identify potential risks during the sales process and act to mitigate them * To accurately forecast sales performance for the territory using a sales pipeline working on a 5 month rolling basis. * Produce well written communications to prospects on an on-going basis. Ensure that after each prospect visit a relevant communication is sent and stored in the stated systems. * Attend sales events, exhibitions, regional user groups and other events where necessary. * Co-ordinate across Product, Marketing, Sales, Prof Serv and Support to gather evidence/examples of best practice to support sales development/need building and to identify any potential new business leads e.g. word of mouth . * Negotiate business agreements at all levels within customer organisations. * Develop and maintain a plan of activities, with market segmentation, to demonstrate your approach to achieving target and increasing the penetration of SIMS products and services across the marketplace * Maintain accurate records, in the stated systems, of all key customer data and contacts. Closely direct the internal sales team to ensure that new school contact and appointment targets are met. * Ability to discuss in detail all business opportunities within the region to senior management team when required. * To build and maintain a high level of educational and commercial credibility by keeping up to-date with the latest developments in educational policy and market influences. * Be able to present (SIMS software and PowerPoint) at all levels and adapt key messages to the needs of the audience/the situation * Has a detailed knowledge of the competition and uses this information to eliminate them during the sales process Essential skills and experience * Proven sales territory planning skills and experience * Successful new business sales experience including sales of value added IT solutions * Proven ability to build strong prospect relationships * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Conversant with the Office suite * New business and sales experience Desirable skills and experience * SIMS software and PowerPoint experience * Delivering presentations at a professional level * An understanding of schools' MIS * Strong presentation and negotiation skills * Confidence in the use of IT for business purposes * An understanding of the factors and issues affecting UK Education.
